Conflict of interest/Attributable sources tags

edit

Since these tags have been added I'd like to address that I created this article and have been its primary contributor. Though I am a fan of the band in question, I am not connected to them in any way so I can safely say that I do not have a conflict of interest. Agent51 has also been contributing, however, and may have such a conflict of interest (I can't say so definitely, but their edit history seems to indicate it). As for sources, I agree that the article is lacking in them and I will come back to it with some references, but it will take some time. As far as notability of the subject, I believe the article addresses how they were notable. Namely that they released several albums, some with national distribution, performed on nationally recognized tours, were given some notable awards and received mention in notable music press. However, I do agree that this notability needs to be supported with sources and I will come back to it with some references. IllaZilla 22:00, 13 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I, Agent51 am the brother of the singer of the band, Agent51. I have only made edits at his request (Chris'). I can provide for you the proper contact info. to verify this legitimacy, and that all edits are in good standing with all past/present members of the band, Agent 51. Agent51 April 16, 2007

I think RJSAE1's concern in adding the tag was that the article had been written or majorly edited by someone in the band, or with close connection to them. Oftentimes this results in a conflict of interest with respect to the article's neutrality. Though I don't feel that the edits you've made have compromised the article's neutrality, I do think the article is rather weak without references, in that it doesn't give a clear indication of why the band was notable. It was one of the first articles I wrote, so it may have inadvertently come off as gushing or advertising in some parts. I'm going to give it a cleanup soon and attempt to support it with some referenced sources ie. magazines, reviews, reputable websites, etc. Once that's done it should be OK to remove the tags. -IllaZilla 23:34, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm doing some searches for source material, going to list likely ones here:

Need your help. Another band has been linked to this page resulting in incorrect information.

edit

Hello, a band that I am affiliated with named Pegasi 51 has inadvertently been linked to Agent 51's biography. I am in process of filing a biography for Pegasi 51 and would appreciate your help. I followed a link from this page: http://wwst.tunegenie.com/music/pegasi-51/ and unfortunately for our band Agent 51's biography was under their name. Being new to Wikipedia, I do not know if you have placed the link directly or if it might have been placed by someone else. My question might be better directed to a help editor. However, I wanted to see if you had any knowledge of the placement of this incorrect link. Awaiting your reply. Thanks in advance.

Wikipedia is a free content encyclopedia; most of its content is dual-licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License and the GNU Free Documentation License. This means that external (non-Wikipedia) websites are allowed to mirror or fork (that is, copy) Wikipedia's content, as long as they provide proper attribution. You will find text from Wikipedia copied on many other websites such as Last.fm, Rhapsody, etc. This has not been done by Wikipedia, but by these websites themselves. Unfortunately, if those websites have gotten something wrong (as in this case, mirrored an artist's biography under the wrong name), there is really nothing that Wikipedia can do about it. You will need to contact the webmaster(s) of wwst.tunegenie.com to inform them of the error and request that it be corrected. All it should require from them is removing the Wikipedia mirror from that particular page. --IllaZilla (talk) 20:39, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
