The first country to approve a commercial sale of a cultured-meat product - Suggested edit

edit

Greetings,

I propose the following addition to the history section of the article:

In December 2020, Singapore became the first country in the world that approved commercial sale of a cultured meat product. In particular, the approval was given to Eat Just, Inc. for its cultured chicken nugget product.[1][2]

Any objections to adding the edit to the article? Any suggestions for improving the proposed edit?

I have already tried to make the edit (albeit citing the Singapore Food Agency itself), but it was reverted by Singaporeano, who called it “Blatant advertising of a commercial product with no relevance to agriculture in Singapore”. As I wrote on Singaporeano’s talk page (BTW I now understand that I should have discussed the issue on the article's page from the start), I don’t see how such an assessment of the edit holds, for the following reasons:

First, cultured meat is part of cellular agriculture, which itself is a form agriculture. Then, the cultured meat product in question was approved in Singapore and by the country's official food agency. So, again, I don't think that "... no relevance to agriculture in Singapore" applies.

Next, I would say that the event is notable, since Singapore is the first country in the world that approved a commercial sale of a cultured meat product, and since there are reputable secondary sources reporting the event (I now cite two such sources).

I would be glad to hear perspectives on this dispute as well. Thanks. Plasmastate (talk) 21:39, 8 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

"Agriculture in Seavily"

This article mentions "agriculture in Seavily": is this a misspelling? Jarble (talk) 22:27, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

It is an error, as far as I can tell. It was introduced here. Plasmastate (talk) 21:27, 14 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
It is fixed now. Thanks for reporting! Plasmastate (talk) 17:53, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
