Was unfortunately unable to locate Zimbabwe country study at Library of Congress Federal Information; such information is used extensively in articles such as Agriculture in Uganda et al (viz Uganda country study). --Mr Accountable (talk) 15:38, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Add ZANU-PF land reform as a part of this article.

edit

Do you think mentioning the land reform further would be a good idea? It has it's own dedicated article, but i think briefly going over it is very much related to this article.

Here's a sketch of how it could look like:

Land reform

edit

In 2000, Zimbabwe's president Robert Mugabe lost a referendum. He blamed the defeat on white farmers, who were said to have agitated their workers. The Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) began occupying farms owned by whites. Ten white farmers and their 27 black workers were murdered. These events led to a catastrophic decline in wheat production and cattle numbers. At the same time, Mugabe reformed agriculture by redistributing farms among black residents. Additionally, a drought occurred in Zimbabwe during this period, causing a collapse in agriculture and widespread hunger.
