Contested deletion
editThis page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because I'm still working on it. I've taken most of the information from here and noted this in the article. I'm trying to make the text based on the information from the source not copying the original text. --Dƶoxar (talk) 23:21, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
- So, I did what I could. Anyway some parts of the article are based on other sources and they don't violate copyright. If someone will see some problems with this text please make me know before deleting the article.--Dƶoxar (talk) 00:19, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
Kiev
editAn editor is disputing the use of "Kiev" in this article, however the policy (not guideline) WP:COMMONNAME calls for the use of "Kiev". At WP:COMMONNAME#Foreign names and anglicization, it says:
Names not originally in a Latin alphabet, such as Greek, Chinese, or Russian names, must be transliterated. Established systematic transliterations, such as Hanyu Pinyin, are preferred. However, if there is a common English-language form of the name, then use it, even if it is unsystematic (as with Tchaikovsky and Chiang Kai-shek).
The common English-language name for the city is "Kiev", arguments for names other than this being the common English-language name should be presented here or at some centralized RfC. BMK (talk) 23:46, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- See the RfC here. BMK (talk) 00:00, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- Kyiv is not just transliterated form, it is already widely used in English in offiacial documents and medias as an alternate form for Kiev.--Dƶoxar (talk) 01:42, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- But it is not the common name. Why is it so difficult for you folks to understand the difference? "Tomato pie" is widely used in certain parts of the United States, but the common name is still "pizza". BMK (talk) 02:47, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
