It is not the quantity of the results, it is their status as reliable sources. There are no reliable sources for pronunciation in the 11th and 12th centuries. The article title should be placed at the usage most often used in English by reliable sources. --Bejnar (talk) 04:28, 26 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
I didn't change this title (moved here). I only compared two alternative names. For now, I don't have any sources to oppose to "Ahmad Sanjar". At the same time, I don't have any sources to oppose to "Ahmed Sanjar". Takabeg (talk) 06:13, 26 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

The reign of Ahmad Sanjar

edit

According to this source [1], Sanjar ruled from 1097 until 1157/8. Al-Mustansir Billah ruled from 1036 to 1094. Now, let's do some simple math; That means that Sanjar ruled in 60/1 years, while Al-Mustansir Billah ruled only in 58 years. I hope that is clear, and if i see one person reverting me without having proved why he/she is right, i will report that person to an admin. --HistoryofIran (talk) 20:07, 23 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Encyclopædia Iranica says Sanjar remained in captivity for three and a half years (1153-1156). Sanjar as governor about 21 years (1097-1118), as sultan about 35 years (1118-1153 and 1156-1157). 21+35=56 years. Al-Mustansir Billah's reign 58 years (1036-1094). You are wrong. --Qara khan 20:33, 23 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Stop making words out of yourself. It does not say governor, here is what it says; SANJAR, Aḥmad b. Malekšāh, Abu’l-Ḥāreth, Moʿezz-al-donyā-wa’l-din, Amir-al-moʾmenin, Burhān (b. Rajab 477/Nov. 1084 or Rajab 479/Oct. 1086; d. 552/1157-8), first subordinate sultan of Khorasan (r. 490-511/1097-1118) and then Great Sultan of the Great Saljuq empire (r. 511-52/1118-57).

Furthermore, it does not say that his reign ended when he got captured. In fact, it says that he returned to his capital, Merv. Here is what it says; Sanjar finally escaped from Ḡozz captivity in the autumn of 551/1156, and half a year later, in the spring of 552/ 1157, he died in Marv. After his death, Turkish amirs, Ḡozz tribal forces, and regional powers were competing for the control of Khorasan, and after a long period of political fragmentation, the province was eventually absorbed into the Khwarazmian empire in the early 13th century (Bosworth, pp. 185-94). --HistoryofIran (talk) 20:47, 23 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I have already explained. Also I have a source Britannica. Maybe you don't know that The Encyclopædia Britannica is the oldest English-language encyclopaedia (from 1768). Its editor staff contains academics, scholars, professors. It doesn't matter that you don't like the Encyclopædia or calling it unreliable. Sorry but If you remove the information and its reference again, then i will have to report you. I don't like do that. Please comply with the rules, don't delete referenced information. --Qara khan 23:16, 23 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

TURKAN

edit

The name Turna may have been given in the history of the name confusion because the other Terken of Sultan Melikşah or Türkan Sultan and his son wife are Türkan. However, this date is not clear. Göktürk Gmc (talk) 14:06, 16 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Stop disrupting this article and come with sources that support your claims. The sources in Terken Khatun (wife of Malik-Shah I) amongst other things (Iranica, Brill) clearly show that Terken is WP:COMMON NAME. --HistoryofIran (talk) 17:41, 16 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wife name inconsistency

edit

Whatever his wife's name was, it needs to be the same one used throughout the page - her name in the top right box says Turna but on the main page towards the end, it says Terken. SafloUK (talk) 12:37, 7 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
