My source of this information is the Air Force Times. I also feel it would be beneficial to list the four Air Force Office of Special Investigation (AFOSI) Special Agents killed. That information is provided in the same Air Force Times article. That url is as follows:

The same argument for years.

This is the same argument we've had here for years. Someone keeps editing trying to make Security Forces Infantry when they are not and never have been. People have implied they are similar and made comparisons, but these are taken out of context and misplaced as facts. Nobody in the Military considers USAF-SF Infantry. They guard bases, that is their mission. Infantry's mission is "to close with, and destroy enemies of the United States, in Close Combat". That's both for the USMC and US Army.

Content: "Air Base Security Battalions, formed to be the Army Air Force‘s ―infantry,‖ marked the first recognition that air bases in combat theaters required specially trained and equipped defenders. These battalions can rightfully claim the distinction of being the ancestors of today‘s Air Force Security Forces units."

Issue: Although Air Base Security Battalions are the ancestors of USAF-SF, they are not USAF-SF. With that said, the quotation around infantry ("infantry") implies similarity, not that they are infantry. This was taken out of context and used as a definitive source for calling USAF-SF Infantry. Furthermore, this was in reference to doctrine of World War II and not modern doctrine. There is no modern Military Field Manuals or Training Manuals that call USAF-SF Infantry.

This has been an issue on this page for years. And people continue to misrepresent USAF-SF as Infantry. Infantry Captures, Destroys, Deters enemy forces, conducts reconnaissance, helps mobilize troops and weaponry and conducts ground combat. The USAF SF does not have that mission, at most the only thing they do is deter enemy forces and conduct reconnaissance.

If we can establish that Cav scouts are not infantry, and are their own Job, why can we not do the same for USAF-SF. TheNathanMuir (talk) 17:30, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

Even the USAF head honcho doesn't say they are infantry: "We size up very similar to the Army’s lightest of the light infantry," said Brig. Gen. in the end just because they are SIMILAR and conduct SIMILAR roles does not make them infantry. No difference than Infantry vs Cav Scouts, Infantry vs Special Forces, Infantry vs Engineers.
