Runnin' Wild

edit

It should be noted that new single Runnin' Wild is now on the radio.Mosdefau2 09:21, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Note

edit

Just so you guys know their track "Stand up for rock and roll" was featured in a Medal of honour: Airbourne trailer so you might want to include that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.153.13.243 (talk) 07:22, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

AC/DC Cover Band?

edit

While its entirely believable (considering how they sound) that they arose from a AC/DC cover band, does anyone have something to prove it? 69.138.197.238 (talk) 00:12, 16 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Saw them on TV for the first time today and heard a few of their songs - they are soo similar to AC/DC (in appearance and guitar style) its great Mabuska (talk) 23:07, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't think they're necessarily a cover band...They just sound EXACTLY LIKE AC/DC.--72.209.8.195 (talk) 12:44, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Naojust they sound like AC/DC but AC/DC sounds like Chuck berry but a little faster and more distortion. It's easy to call them a AC/DC cover band for most rock fans but if you'll listen to the songs a couple of times you know they're not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Erpvb (talkcontribs) 12:50, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Page Move

edit
  Resolved

As we do not preemptively disambiguate, I propose moving this page from Airbourne (band) to Airbourne, which is currently a redirect to Airborne. Random89 01:42, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello. The page was moved by another admin, but I noticed that there is currently a page at Airborne. The British English spelling should redirect to the American English titled disambiguation page, so I've undone the move. Just letting everyone know why. Parsecboy (talk) 16:52, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I guess that makes sense. Thanks for letting us know why. Random89 20:37, 18 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
What? As far as I know, "airbourne" is not a valid spelling of "airborne" in any variety of English; the band's name, like that of the Eastbourne Air Show, is presumably intended as a pun of some sort.
I propose that we should put the article for either the band or the air show at Airbourne, with links both to the other, and to the airborne disambig page for those who mis-spelled. - IMSoP (talk) 21:49, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Airbourne may mean:

{{disambiguation}}

70.51.8.75 (talk) 05:26, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hm, that's maybe not a bad idea; it would solve the clumsiness of my fix to the airborne dab, because you could simply say "See also: airbourne, airborn".
My only hesitation is that all the links that point to Airbourne (of which there aren't that many) are referencing the band, suggesting it has "primary meaning" status. But like I say, there aren't many, so maybe that's not a problem if we go in and fix them? - IMSoP (talk) 22:36, 4 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
OK, looks like this has been done, so consider the discussion resolved unless anyone objects. - IMSoP (talk) 17:14, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

The history section seems incredibly cluttered with no direction. It seems to just be a list of songs featured in other media. Should that not be a seperate section, with history being reworked? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.38.14.1 (talk) 19:52, 11 October 2008 (UTC) 19:56, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Gedmundo (talk)Reply

I have added a headline for songs in other media; however, the history section looks like it needs to be improved significantly. Hammer of the Gods27 (talk) 19:46, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree with you there. Just got a few points to make. 1) I added the upcoming album into the history section as it seems a logical place to have it. Although we probably need a source for this to look a creditable claim. 2) The line about their equipment doesn't fit under that heading. Does it warrant its own heading? I'd say it needs ellaborating on before that, but otherwise I can't see a logical place to put it. 3) This section itself. Would it look better if it were split into sub headings of video games/tv shows/sporting events etc or not? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gedmundo (talkcontribs) 17:13, 12 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I found the original source of the upcoming album, the source is from a MetalHammer interview with the band confirming that they are working on new material. Where you put the band's equpment seems to be the best place since there isn't enough info to merit it's own heading. On your third point I think you should do that if it seems to be for the better. Hammer of the Gods27 (talk) 19:52, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Great. This page is coming along nicely. Gedmundo (talk) 20:00, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

A lot more organized now, thats for sure. Hammer of the Gods27 (talk) 20:04, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

As WWE Smackdown theme song

edit

Do we have a source for this, or just a rumour? It should be removed unless we can verify that it's actually the song being used. Vic93 (t/c) 01:53, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I really think that's just a rumour nd needs removing. It doesn't sound like them anyway, with or without sources.Gedmundo (talk) 18:56, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fanclub

edit

I noticed this line in the article "Airbourne have an independent fan club on Myspace who support the band with advertising, friends, and publicity" followed by a link to the Airbourne Fan Club on Myspace. This seems a tiny bit biased in an odd kind of way. Should this line be removed and a link to their fan club just be at the bottom of the page? Gedmundo (talk) 19:02, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree, it isn't something that needs to be there but could just be an external link, preferably under their official myspace page.Hammer of the Gods27 (talk) 21:29, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'd change it, but editing the links at the bottom isn't something I've done before. Gedmundo (talk) 16:54, 12 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Heads Are Gonna Roll

edit

In the video in which it is first confirmed Airbourne are working on a third Album, there is a mention of heads are gonna roll. The interviewer says something along the lines of "Can we mention Heads Are Gonna Roll?" Both the present members of the band are unsure and the interviewer doesn't persue it further. However, there is a youtube video of a song called Heads are gonna roll by airbourne. It's very clear that it is the band singing it. Can we make a mention of this. The youtube link is http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Ns34v8moHBQ Gedmundo (talk) 12:27, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

No, it would need a reference and I don't think wikipedia allows a youtube link to confirm something whether it does sound like Airbourne.Hammer of the Gods27 (talk) 05:26, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

OK, few months later this link is to a madden 2010 trailer. Featuring the song Heads Are Gonna Roll by none other than Airbourne http://www.spike.com/video/madden-nfl-10/3162710 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gedmundo (talkcontribs) 06:18, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Further improvement ideas

edit

I believe the article is now C-class. It's biggest problem in becoming B-class is the Songs featured in other media section which lacks reliable sources. Part of that section is list-like and part is prose. I've done my bit for the History and Discography sections and leave further work for other editors.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:54, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Just over 10 years later, I've had a go at this subSection, I've renamed it In popular culture, tabulated its content, referenced most of the items, deleted those I could not find sources for and moved the whole section down below discography. I also added content and refs to the rest of the article and will now re-assess it as B-class.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 04:23, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Post-2018 line-ups

edit

Mathew Harrison was replaced on rhythm guitar and backing vocals by Jarrad Morrice in mid-2022 (see refs [57] and [58]). Since that time Brett Tyrrell has performed in Airbourne (perhaps as a fill-in or auxiliary touring member?) but there appear to be no independent reliable sources to verify that Tyrrell has joined as a permanent full-time member. Sources which cite Tyrrell's former bands (Thunderstruck and/or Black Aces) or Tyrrell's social media sites are not independent and cannot be used to verify this possible line-up change. Another source by Pete Finn of Metal Planet Music (July 2023) states "if my research is correct, the very recently recruited Brett Tyrrell (rhythm guitar, backing vocals) who was in Thunderstruck an AC/DC tribute act in Australia."[1] The problem here is that it is conditional, the writer is not sure whether Tyrell is a member, hence Tyrrell's name should not be added to the line-up until better verification is available. The band's official website has not made any statement about the mid-2023 line-up nor the sixth studio album, which is due out this year (see ref [75]).shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 04:52, 19 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Together with the above source, I have added another reference, which refers to Tyrrell as "Their newcomer". Hopefully these two are refs sufficiently reliable to verify the line-up change.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 00:26, 15 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
