Legal issues in arisoft article is country specific information. Due to the lack of information regarding energy level limits, legal information in this article originates from multiple countries (En and Us). If this info went to Legal issues article it would result in a split of info to each country, lossing it's true meaning. anon

Maybe legal stuff is in the right place, because one must justify the energy limits refered in this article otherwise would make no sense. Maybe this article should be fully integrated in the main airsoft article, it would make alot more sense for both articles. anon

Is 0.80 g (Usually made of steel and comes with a polished finished) an airsoft pellet?

The Dangers to humans section not very useful. Penetration velocity should be expressed in terms of both mass and contact area. Contact area appears to be folded into the constant of the equation, but this greatly limits the usefulness (and accuracy) of the equation. The equation should be reformulated to result in joules/(contact area) - (mass times velocity divided by area), because this is the important measure for safety. The important safety information is (joules/contact area) to cause bleeding (or bruising not limited to the skin), penetration into tissues below the skin, breaking the 12th rib or hyoid bone (usually the easiest bones to break by impact, because of their size), and impact to damage an open eye. What about non-visible injuries?

Looking at the section on dangers to humans it talks about potential to pierce the skin, but doesn't say anything about shock effect, on the head for example. Objects don't have to penetrate the skull to cause brain damage. It's very unlikely that such a tiny pellet would cause any major internal damage. Further to this, there is no proven evidence that any injury of this sort has ever occured. RWJP (talk) 00:15, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

The pellets are so small and there mass is so little that the amount of force behind the pellets isn't even close to the amount of force required to cause severe or even a small amount of brain damage. The only real way a airsoft pellet will cause damage is if it were to strike and penetrate the eye. Suggestion

Someone should do the calculations for the rate which a bbs slows and the perspective velocities at diffrent distances using regular FPS limits in order to best make engagement distances in reguard to force impacting the opposing player as opposed to muzzle velocity. (350 with .20s for CQB, 400 outdoors, 500 sniper) Just1ChanceFree 08:40, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Hop-Up and accuracy

The article currently states that hop-up doesn't improve horisntal accuracy. It actually does. Without hop up, the bbs leaving the barrel tend to tumble in an unpredictable way, while with hop-up the spin is consistent with each shot, leading to improved accuracy. The hop-up does increase accuracy because it allows the bb to travel the same distance every time. Accuracy really depends more on the length of the barrel and if there is a lot of wind where you are playing. The disuse of these projectiles dont seem as if they are worth mentioning here. Maybe for a "history of airsoft" article. novalord2
