Unreliable sources
editIt appears to me that the sources currently attached to this article are not reliable. [1] is hosted on a website that is at least partially built off of community contributed content, and also appears to host promotional content (their about page here. The other source is a primary source document (that barely mentions the subject anyway). signed, Rosguill talk 18:13, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- 1) Try reading Patch Media and see if the info & criticisms in it make them unreliable. If determined as unreliable, I'll gladly get other sources. 2) In the world of Thoroughbred racing, ownership of Mr. Prospector alone warrants an article. Simply put, pedigree is everything and next to Northern Dancer, he is the most influential sire into the 20th-21st century in North America who also has highly successful progeny across Europe, Asia, Australia. etc. As a source, Monmouth Park Racetrack is owned by the State of New Jersey. A "Primary source" designation doesn't apply to the racetracks in the U.S. because they are, in 99% of all cases, the only source for non Triple Crown/Breeders' Cup race history. The DRF stopped publishing their periodic, non-annual full race history circa 1915. A list of race winners is not "promotional", it is simply publishing facts. Daily newspapers report, and only sometimes, on a selected race highlight. Also, IMHO and I think others with expertise on the subject will agree, above and beyond Mr. Prospector's importance, in the world of Thoroughbred racing any person or stable who breeds and races a U.S. National Champion (Forward Gal) or one with numerous top-level Graded stakes winners, warrants a Wiki article. Wikipedia even has an article category for owners of the winner of just a single race. (Category:owners of Preakness Stakes winners) Thanks. Hope this helps. - Your arguments regarding notability seem reasonable. It would still be good to find more reliable sources in order to improve the article and add more content to it. signed, Rosguill talk 19:56, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
