Governorate

edit

Amr, you are introducing a pro-regime POV. Al-Hasakah Governorate is an administrative unit of the regime, while Al-Darbasiyah is controlled by the SIG/Ankara. You are also blanking this status, but don't explain why. Konli17 (talk) 10:32, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

darbasiyah is not controlled by Turkey. It even says that in the article. Thepharoah17 (talk) 21:55, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Right you are P17, I stand corrected. Konli17 (talk) 23:30, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

At Talk:Jawan Mohammed Qatna#Location of Derbassiyeh in Syria I wondered if Al-Dirbasiyah is also known as "Derbassiyeh" (particularly in English sources). The reason I ask is that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says that "Derbassiyeh" is a Syrian border town with Turkey. The Syrian Observer also says "Derbassiyeh" is 85 km north of Hassakeh. Also, this UN OHCR diagram of Syria-Turkey border crossings shows "Derbassiyeh" as a border crossing town opposite Şenyurt in Turkey. Another UN OHCR report indicates "Derbassiyeh" is a district north of Al Hasaketh, but the map accompanying the report shows "Ad Darbisyeh" to the north. To me this indicates they are all referring to one and the same place. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 01:52, 22 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

After further searching, I found this an atlas from UN OHCR that shows "Derbassiyeh" on the border with Turkey where Al-Dirbasiyah is. See Syrian Arab Republic Reference Map Atlas (PDF). Şehitkamil, Gaziantep, Turkey: United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). 9 May 2014. p. 13. for map sheet B10. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 11:31, 22 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
