Al Ahly FC → ? – Al Ahly is a major social and multi-sports club in Egypt, and have a team participating in almost all top-tier leagues in all sports competitions in Egypt, in both the men and women divisions.

The club's official name has always been Al Ahly SC, and it was the name used here on Wikipedia for a while, with the full name in English being Al Ahly Sporting Club, and sometimes translated to Al Ahly Sports Club. However, effective from mid-2022, the club launched its own football company to moderate everything related to the club's football team, and in 2023, they launched a new logo and started using the abbreviation AFC, which is short for Al Ahly Football Club, according to the club's official website.

A user apparently moved this article without holding a discussion first, so I decided to make a RM to see whether the current name is the best, or should we revert this note.

One thing to note is that the majority of sports and social clubs in Egypt use the same name for all teams in all sports, such as Ismaily (ISM/ISC), Smouha (SMO/SSC), and Zamalek (ZAM/ZSC) for example, so reverting to the old name will be ideal for WP:CONSISTENT and WP:COMMONNAME too.

At the same time, the articles mainly, but not fully, discusses the football team only, with a small part concentrating about the founding of the club itself, so the current name might be ideal; but again, that wouldn't match the naming system used here on Wikipedia for the rest of clubs in Egypt.

Personally, I'm fine with either names, Al Ahly FC or Al Ahly SC, but I believe the most suitable name would be determined only through a discussion. Thanks.

Edit: I also noticed that the user who made this change didn't actually move the article, but instead just literally copied the content of the page located at Al Ahly SC to a newly-created article called Al Ahly FC, and changed the former to a redirect page.
