editAlain J P Belda was born in French/ Morocco on June 23 1943. He moved to Brazil at the age of three then to Canada at thirteen. His father died in a car accident in Brazil. He has one brother named Ricardo. His second wife’s name is Haydee Esteves. He had been president and chief executive officer of the company since May 1999. Alain J P Belda became chairman and chief executive officer of Alcoa in January 2001.
In 1979 he joined Alcoa/Brazil and eventually became CEO of it. He then moved on to CEO of Alcoa itself in 1994.He has been with the company for 36 years but has been CEO for only six years.
