Article name
edit@BalkanianActuality: Your argument that UEFA calls it "Albanian Football Association" in its website can be easily rebuffed with a better argument. FSHF in its own official website is mentioned as Albanian Football Federation. Source here. The name "association" means something entirely different in the Albanian language. It translates to the word "shoqatë", mainly in reference to an NGO or a union. The only translation of the word "federata" is "federation". It is too obvious even for a non-Albanian speaker to come to this conclusion. The words are almost identical, letter for letter. The word "association" has been largely used by other foreign football federations, in unison, to anglicize the name for each organization and so it has stuck these past few years, within Wikipedia. If you look at the articles of all the sports governing bodies in Albania here, the football article is the only one using the word "association". Kj1595 (talk) 10:34, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Kj1595, regarding the linguistic aspect, you are completely right, but if we look at the English version of the Albanian Football Federation, then in some cases we see the use of terms such as "Federation" and "Association", for example in some news like this one "The football federation" term is used, in some others where Armando Duka is mentioned "AFA [acronym for Albanian Football Association]" term is used, while in Armando Duka's biography it is seen that "Albanian Football Association" term has been used. So it would have been good to discuss this before you made the move even though you did the move. Krelana (talk) 07:57, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- The usage of the word "association" never made any sense. It's very obvious the term was borrowed from Wikipedia and taken as factual. There is no other rational explanation to be made in using that word over the accurate translation "federation". No other sports entity in the country uses such a word.
