Alektorophobia is the fear of chickens. There is only one known case worldwide. Dean O'Sullivan of Tralee is the only known case. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.19.89.17 (talk) 20:58, 5 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

A number of phobias are listed throughout Wikipedia. I noticed that some phobias are missing and that the existing articles on phobias are quite interesting to read, and therefore decided to draft an article for Alektorophobia (also known as the fear of chickens). This is my first article creation submission and I would greatly appreciate any constructive criticism and other helpful feedback! Tayisiya (talk) 06:04, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Etymology

edit

I removed the etymology as it seems to be incorrect: "from the Greek: πετεινός, alektoro, "rooster" and φόβος, phóbos, "fear"" 'πετεινός' transliterates to 'peteinos', not 'alektoro'. I don't know enough Greek to know what alektoro may have been transliterated from though! - Zephyris Talk 20:33, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

It seems to be transliterated from "αλέκτορας" or "αλέκτωρ" (https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/%CE%B1%CE%BB%CE%AD%CE%BA%CF%84%CE%BF%CF%81%CE%B1%CF%82#Greek); ancient greek "ἀλέκτωρ"(https://el.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/ἀλέκτωρ#Αρχαία_ελληνικά_(grc)
