Facts matter
editWikipedia policy prevents me publishing on Alex's page that he moved to Germany and has twin sons, despite the fact I'm mentioned on his page, because there's no "reliable published source". I'm a friend of his since we were 15 and I'm a known rock journalist, yet I apparently can't put the facts here unless I go away and publish them elsewhere in an article and then I can say "oh look - a published source!" This is a serious flaw preventing dissemination of uncontested facts. Basically if I can convince someone else to print the truth Wikipedia will believe it.
