He is the recipient of major international awards, and his work has been featured by the BBC, MSNBC, etc.

I am not convinced ot this person's notability
editHe is a professor at Indiana University. While I'm sure it's a fine school, it's not Harvard or Penn or whatever. And he's an associate professor, not a full professor.
Looking here, he's got array of publications - of articles, not books. And of which he always one of several authors. And which are in publications which, while fine and important I'm sure, are not the New England Journal of Medicine or The Lancet or whatever.
The references all, or mostly all, seem to be to these articles that he has written, rather than to stories about him or his research.
There are two external links. One was labeled "Interview with Bob Niculescu on MSNBC", but the link does not devolve to an interview. It devolves to a short article (13 sentences) in which is quoted (three sentences). The other external link was labeled "The Niculescu Lab", but it is not Niculescu's in particular, just the web page of the Laboratory of Neurophenomics at the Department of Psychiatry at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Also, it appears that "Neurophenomics", whatever it is, is a word coined at Indiana University (likely by Niculescu himself) and used mainly there.
The article states that he is a "Romanian born, San Diego, California, educated and trained (Scripps, UCSD School of Medicine) scientist and physician", but his M.D. is from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, which I'm sure is a fine school but isn't in San Diego.
Anyway, I'm not seeing anything close to a slam-dunk meeting of WP:PROF.
On the hand, he generates lots of Google hits. here it states he won something called the Theodore Reich Award from the International Society for Psychiatric Genetics, which can't be a bad thing. I haven't investigated these links at this time, as they look to be pretty technical and would require some work.
I'm not saying the guy's not extremely distinguished, it looks like he is is; and I'm not saying he's not notable, I'm just saying it looks questionable. I may get back to this, or perhaps someone else will follow up on this. In the meantime, I'm tagging the article for notability. Herostratus (talk) 02:19, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
