Date of birth
editThe article says that Protopopov was born in 1866; however, in Massie's biography of the Romanovs Nicholas and Alexandra he mentions that when Protopopov was appointed Minister of Interior in 1916 he was 64, which would mean he was born in 1851 or 1852 (depending on the particular month and day on which he was born). I realize that this book is a biography of the Romanov family and not of Protopopov; nonetheless, I have no reason to doubt the veracity of Massie's statement. Do we have a reference for the date of birth as given in the article? Kurt Weber (Go Colts!) 16:17, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- The date was taken from the Great Soviet Encyclopedia [1]. You may also wanna check Britannica [2]. KNewman 18:17, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hrm...neither of those encyclopedias seem to cite their sources...Massie's biography is at best a tertiary source; right now I'm trying to get ahold of the sources he used for the relevant passages to see what I can find. I may have to get some books through ILL, though. Kurt Weber (Go Colts!) 18:25, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Syphilis
edit"Protopopov was suffering from the effects of advanced syphilis...". Is there a source for this? Seki1949 (talk) 09:08, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
