Removed deletion tag
editI expanded and referenced the article and removed the deletion tag. Like the above poster said, Winn has won many awards and has gotten considerable press. The article should be expanded, not deleted: notability can be proven, just because it hasn't yet doesn't mean the article should be deleted. But it's moot now, because I've added several citations throughout the article, including a non-internet source, (despite the fact that having an internet encyclopedia article about an internet movie series be cited by mostly internet sources would hardly be unreasonable). Anyway, problem solved, and tag deleted. Tex Murphy (talk) 22:21, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
Removed Deletion Tag, Round 2
editI removed the deletion tag. The one last year was for good reasons, the article really wasn't cited that much, and it needed to be fixed. But this year, all explanations given were erroneus. Here is the explanation:
"Vanity page, as clearly indicated by the link to a resume/for hire "official site." Notability is not shown. Awards mentioned are not considered prestigious in the film community as they are awarded in bulk; CINE awards don't even appear on IMDB, and WorldFest only for the Grand Prize winner, as there are hundreds of awards given per year. As well, all link/references to this page are either from the person's own website, IMDB, or a brief mention in a blog--the same sources used to legitimize another related vanity article. All news-mention is of local relevance, not national or global. This is the second proposal for deletion -- the original, a year ago, was removed on the premise that notability would be proven. It hasn't."
However, CINE is a VERY prestigious organization, as is the Houston WorldFest. IMDB cannot be used as the judge for notable film festivals if it it cannot be used to denote notable people. Also, both national and global relevance is clearly stated: mtvU, a national television station, XBOXWorld 360, a British magazine, and a full chapter in a book, not to mention newspapers and magazines in several American cities, and the fact that several of the film festivals are international. And the blog does not contain a brief mention, it is an entire article from a very respected professional in the blog he then turned into a book.
However, just in case, I have removed the link to Winn's personal site, (which is admittedly a "for hire" site), and I have added a section dealing with Winn's recent interview on NPR, which is a national radio station of undeniable importance. Tex Murphy (talk) 03:02, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
