General update
editI've expanded the article in general and corrected some of the English, namely some literal translations and "false friends". For example, it was written that Castelao was an "universalist", when Universalism in English is a religion (wiki it ;)). The correct translation from the Galician universalista / universalismo when speaking about politics is "internationalist / internationalism", and so on.
Also, I have serious doubts about what's said in reference to the translations of his works... Only a handful of his short stories are translated into English as far as I know, and I don't think there's many translations around in other languages. Even his key work Sempre en Galiza is only available in the original (I think it's only now that someone is starting to translate it, into English). Most of the info I've added is from Sempre en Galiza, as this book gives lots of biographical information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Swamp Greetings (talk • contribs) 10:50, 9 September 2008 (UTC) I updated the birth date, 1886, in keeping with the main text, and the age at death, strictly 63, although some might consider that he was almost 64 at his death. References
editFor the love of God... Who has added all those "page number needed" and "citation needed" every two sentences??? This makes the article impossible to read.
SOME further references may be needed for better clarification, BUT:
- References are not needed after each single statement. References can be grouped at the end of a paragraph, as a conclusion to the exposition of an idea. That was done in a few places and still someone felt the need to ask for more references in the middle of each short paragraph... It is redundant and makes reading annoying!
- "Sempre en Galiza" has a zillion editions. Even in the field of Galician Studies it is often referred to as simply "Sempre en Galiza (1944)", omitting page numbers. Some give details on the specific edition they've used. Some only mention the "book" (it is divided in three "books" or "parts"). Some just refer to "Sempre en Galiza". Yes. It is that important and referential. IF anyone has the time and patience to go through a specific edition page by page looking for the quotes that are common knowledge in the realm of Galician Studies, be my guest. It'd be the first time.
- Bibliography are references!!! That is to day, when a list of bibliography is added it is generally admitted in academic publishing that whatever is not specifically cited in the text comes from those bibliographical sources. Again, this is done to avoid footnotes every two words. Maybe I should mention that some publishers don't accept footnotes at all... I do believe in a balance though!
- Personal letters don't have page numbers!!! :P
Doesn't people discuss things over in these "discussion" pages anymore? me wonders...
I did my bit with this article. I better go on with other stuff.
