I was a bit surprised to see this article apparently dissenting from text in another wikipedia article. This article currently reads: "The account given in the Wikipedia article on Guildford states apparent facts". I presume that this refers to the current text of the Guildford article: "he was met and entertained in Guildford by the Earl Godwine. Godwine handed him to Harold Harefoot's men, who blinded and mutilated him to the extent that he died not long after." Could we perhaps have some discussion of the issues / evidence / various interpretations here and work towards some sort of consensus, and then bring the two articles into line.

Is it - for example - agreed or disputed that Alfred Atheling died in Guildford? Stumps 19:43, 7 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
