Youngest Major General
edit...was not James M. Gavin, but actually Lauris Norstad, who was five days younger than Gavin (he was promoted to Major General on 04 June, 1945). You can make the argument that he was a Air Force officer, but before 1947, the Air Force was still a part of the U.S. Army, therefore, he was the youngest Army officer during WWII.
