lop-sided view
editThis is a completely lop-sided British view of the German diplomat and it is downright absurd to cite Christopher Clark as the source for this nonsense.
Clark mainly blames diplomats in the French Foreign Ministry for the escalation: "(Maurice) Herbette had build up an extensive network of newspaper contacts and he worked hard during the Agadir crisis to discredit the very idea of talks with Germany"
And regarding Kiderlen-Waechter and the dispatch of the gunboat Panther he writes: "He hoped, by mirroring French moves with a sequence of incremental gestures of German protest, to secure an acknowledgement of German rights ..he had good reason to believe that this objective could be reached without conflict" XeniaBW (talk) 08:34, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
