editTo those involved in recent edits on this page (aside from myself), it appears that much of this article was derived from ARC promotional materials. The language deviates from Wikipedia's neutrality policy, there are extremely few references or citations (aside from those that I have included), and the writing is better suited for a magazine than an encyclopedia. Whereas it is abundantly clear that ARC has many outstanding achievements in providing humanitarian aid, this can be better described using neutral, well-referenced language. Among other things, it was necessary to remove the first-person pronoun from many phrases as well as a number of contractions. You will better serve both Wikipedia and ARC by editing in a careful and professional manner. Cmacauley (talk) 14:56, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Significant improvement, especially with regard to references. What happened to the Annual Report cover photo? Any plans to replace it? Cmacauley (talk) 14:36, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Moved. See general agreement below to move this article to its subject's new name, and that there is no need for a qualifier for now. Kudos to editors for your input, and Happy Publishing! (nac by page mover) Paine Ellsworth, ed. put'r there 17:37, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
It was proposed in this section that American Refugee Committee be renamed and moved to Alight.

American Refugee Committee → Alight – new name as of June 21, 2019. SusanLesch (talk) 15:45, 26 June 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. — Newslinger talk 06:23, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 20:33, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
- @SusanLesch: "Alight" by itself has another meaning to most people :: see wikt:alight. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 20:37, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you, Anthony Appleyard. This is more complicated than overwriting the redirect to Fire. Will we have to disambiguate in parentheses? Like Alight (organization) or Alight (NGO). I don't think I can choose one of those, so, if that's true, I will write to Alight and ask them what they prefer. If you think it can possibly stand alone as Alight after discussion, I won't write. -SusanLesch (talk) 22:39, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
- @SusanLesch: Best disambiguate in parentheses. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 04:26, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose - Too soon really. Let's see how secondary sources continue to refer to this, and gives time to figure out a parenthetical to use. -- Netoholic @ 11:45, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks, both of you. They chose Alight (NGO). This move request is just waiting for a closer (I guess I can't close this myself). -SusanLesch (talk) 16:04, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support Personally, I think putting it at Alight is fine. The word has two meanings, so its current redirect to fire is incorrect. Since Wikipedia is not a dictionary it does not need to reserve certain words unless they merit an article about them.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 05:24, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
