edit'Originated in BattleTech?' I know the term gets used (indeed, has a specific meaning) in Star Fleet Battles, which is six years older, and somehow I don't think it originates there. editAlpha strike is also an electronics-industry term referring to the impact of alpha particles onto integrated circuits - which cause errors and can cause IC's to fail. Not sure how to make a disambiguation page, though ... anyone?
