name

Is the story about the band name being taken from the key combo alt+j correct? In fact, there is no alt key in OS X. Macs have always instead had the option key (which does bear a subtitle of "alt" on various models), and pressing ⌥ Option+j does result in a ∆. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 13:38, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

What about the bit about the Alt+J combination opening Windows Media Player? I've tried in Windows XP, 7, and 8. It didn't work in any of them. If it's even true for any version of Windows, it should specify which. 84.227.242.199 (talk) 23:00, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

i would also like to say, their name is spelt alt-J not Alt-J when i see their name, its spelt like that on youtube and on their album, which i have, so i dunno if we should do something about that or what.violetcries (talk) 1 August, 2013 (UTC)

Leeds University

A couple of editors have recently changed the place where they met from Leeds University to Leeds Metropolitan University. I am no expert but if this change were to be made it would surely need a reliable reference. For now, I have referenced Leeds, not Leeds Met, with a Facts and Figures page which mentions them, as do a number of other Leeds pages. In fact, it is quite interesting to compare an "alt-j" Google search on Leeds, such as "alt-j"+site:www.leeds.ac.uk with one on Leeds Met like: "alt-j" site:www.leedsmet.ac.uk - Leeds makes plenty of mention of them and Leeds Met none. Surely if they were Leeds Met alumni, the site would mention it once, somewhere? But I'd be very happy to see more reliable sources for this, either way. Okay then

This isn't "eccentric typography". Their name is written alt-J, not Alt-J. A lot of brands and stuff also do that, for example iOS/eBay. So why can't alt-J be written the right way? —WLM / ? 16:50, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Tourdates

The page listed a large number of tourdates and festival performances. While interesting they did appear too much like a list without a great deal of context. Also, the band has played a further set of dates since the release of their second album. Karst (talk) 09:57, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Lowercase in the band name

I'm not sure that we should keep alt-J instead of Alt-J in the article name and everywhere. The lowercase a contradicts MoS. Therefore we should substitute all the alt-j for the name with the capital A. Among many other examples of the same case there are Thirtysomething and the good article Blink-182 (with an old talk about it). --Almicione (talk) 20:05, 2 June 2016 (UTC)

@Karst: Come again? I don't need to reach a consensus in some other area of Wikipedia to make a simple edit here. An IP user swapped stylized for stylised [1] for whatever reason and I reverted it on the grounds that whether this article uses British English or American English stylized was already correct. Pitchfork ratings

At what point are we allowed to walk away from Pitchfork? I mean, it was important for about a decade. Maybe stop acting like it's the last word in contemporary alternative/indie despite sales?
