edit

Amanita muscaria guessowii is no longer known as that name, it’s been reclassified as Amanita chrysoblema yellow-orange variant.

The site amanitaceae.org has Amanita muscaria var. guessowii as a synonym of Amanita chrysoblema yellow-orange variant. However, the rest of the page discusses Amanita muscaria var. guessowii, so I'd guess this is a recent proposal. Without proper sourcing and evidence that they change has been accepted elsewhere, this move would be premature. —  Jts1882 | talk  06:31, 26 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose, amanitaceae.org has many pages for provisionally named taxa, e.g. [1] and [2], that have name status given as "cryptonomen temporarium" or "nomen provisorum", and with author mostly given as "Tulloss" (sometimes with an additional author), with no additional details about the publication. Tulloss's publication is amanitaceae.org itself. Wikipedia shouldn't have articles on provisionally named taxa from amanitaceae.org (although it is an authoritate resource). For this taxon, the amanitaceae.org page is messed up; it lists the name status as "nomen acceptum", and gives Veselý (with a citation to a journal page number) as the author. The name published by Veselý is the current title, Amanita muscaria var. guessowii. Either wait for a name to be formally published (or until other reliable sources start using amanitaceae.org's provisional names), or merge to Amanita chrysoblema (Wikipedia doesn't usually have articles on infraspecific taxa).
