WP style capitalization

edit

This page was moved 1 December 2012 from "Amazonas Department" to "Amazonas department", same change of capitalization happened to all other department of Colombia articles. The reason given was WP:LOWERCASE.

WP:LOWERCASE says proper names are exempted, now one can debate whether "department" is part of the proper name. Different styles exist. At Talk:An_Giang_province#Requested_move AP style and Chicago style are mentioned. As confirmed at that talk page the WP style is using upper case format "Amazon River", "Amazon Basin", "Guajira Peninsula".

So I think in the English Wikipedia the name should be "Amazonas Department" as it was established for years. NVanMinh (talk) 05:19, 21 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Some pages cannot be moved, an admin is needed. NVanMinh (talk) 05:44, 21 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

– I'm proposing this change to match the format of other country subdivisions named Amazonas in South American, i.e. Amazonas (Brazilian state) and Amazonas (Venezuelan state). BaduFerreira (talk) 02:58, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
