Keep

edit

The show will be airing within two months on US National Television. And the Tyra Banks picture leaked can be backed up from reliable sources citing that it is in Australia. And certainly more details will be coming out in upcoming weeks to promote the show. Darlabear 08:55, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the Australia leak, now that we have the episode titles, it's kind of hard to deny that they're headed "Down Under". :o) Just wanted to point that out. SkittlzAnKomboz 21:32, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Definitely keep. The cycle will start in February, so just keep the page. We should be getting more info soon anyways. 04:05, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Episodes' presentation

edit

Has anyone noticed that there is no coherent presentation and style for the articles of the entire franchise, as there is no uniform layout for each cycle?

I think we should follow the flow of the second cycle. I quite like the fact that it makes of a more coherent picture of the dynamics of the show, as well as highlighting the personalities, aspirations of the contestants. Ohconfucius 04:20, 2 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I beg to differ. I think cycle 2 focusses too much on the contestants and not the show itself. I think the recent cycles like cycle 6 and cycle 7 are better because they give a summary of every week's episode, on top of all the other inclusions that give it a nice overall layout. ZephyrWind

I think they focus on giving each girl their own different setting on the photoshoot. I liked it better when they all did they same thing not them doing a school cliques photoshoot with one being a flirty girl and one being mean girl etc.

The cycles are relatively consistent, I think. Make-overs come early on, Nigel photographs them at some point, Tyra probably photographs them if she feels like it, there's some crazy runway challenge, and by the end it's all for Covergirl. Simple formula. Ditavondiva 22:02, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Revealing winner

edit

I don't know if it's accurate or not, but I think that the chart showing the winner of this cycle should be removed. The cycle hasn't even begun airing yet. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 149.159.106.41 (talk) 22:46, 4 February 2007 (UTC).Reply

He's talking about when the table had the contestants' names in a non-alphabetical order. SKS2K6 02:26, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ultimately, I think we should be pretty vigilant about keeping the chart clean. I've visited this page multiple times to find bogus information filled into the chart. Otherwise, timing has been fine.Ifalna 07:18, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I see a lot of people who are trying to say that the ANTM page has been edited, but I never see it. Whatever. I think the chart should be updated as the cycle keeps airing. Ditavondiva 21:58, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not the First Cycle with 2 plus sizes

edit

Cycle 1 had 2 Tessa and Robin —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.37.247.127 (talk) 05:52, 25 February 2007 (UTC). Tessa was curvy, not plus-sized. KyrieSanctus 03:09, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes. I don't think Tessa was above a size 12, however. According to ANTM guidelines, a woman must be over size 12 to be considered plus-size, which is confirmed by Sarah's comments during the premiere episode. Ifalna 07:16, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't think Tessa even looked that big. But didn't Whitney mention something about how she could be a size 8-10 on the cover of Vogue? Sarah was right; the perfect plus-size model is a 10-12.Ditavondiva 22:00, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Eliminated Contestant

Blank Grid is not crystal balling

edit

I've replaced the blank grid. I hope we can agree that a blank chart to be filled-in as the show progresses isn't crystal balling. -- Mikeblas 00:57, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

First time no girls cried

edit

Should it be added somwhere that this is the First season none of the girls cried because they didn't like they're new hairdo? Jael only cried because of the time it took to do her hair and then to take it out again & Brittany cried because it hurt! Tommy22028 01:14, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Naming in Photograph

edit

The naming in the photo is incorrect. Felicia is called Jaslene, and Felicia is the one sitting on the floor. Oh, and Jaslene is called Natasha; Natasha is not the one on the floor. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.136.181.21 (talk) 20:12, 23 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

Cycle Statistics

edit

I don't think we should list Jaslene's height as 5'7" as she hasn't confirmed it herself and neither has it been confirmed on-screen. However, by watching the show, she indeed appears to be the shortest of the group.

Samantha was actually the youngest...

Cycle 8 "Tyra's Call Out's"

edit

I noticed one day that the call out box has been edited, I'm not entirely sure that this is the right call outs as it i's heading into week 8 when we are only at week 6, these may be false call outs, if so, it should be deleted, which I have tried to do, but having dificulties doing.

Someone keeps on messing with callouts by putting things in the spots where we havent even seen yet even they are correct they dont need to be put up there

Call out grid is completely wrong. Most of the names in the grid were not even contestants in the shoe —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.170.3.42 (talk) 00:35, 23 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Contestants' surnames

edit

See also talk page of series

These have appeared for all contestants, but there's as yet no source..... How do we know how accurate this information is? Many of these have been inserted by IP editors, of which some have been accused of vandalism, and thus I deem potentially highly unreliable. All surnames have been removed for the moment. Kindly source adequately Ohconfucius 03:21, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • That poptower website must have gotten their surname information from here. Cassandra's last name is Watson yet they still list her as Laing. They still list Renee's as DeWitt even though somebody here admitted that they just made it up. People keep listing Brittany's as Carrigher when a yearbook photo has shown that it is Hatch. Not to mention the website does not have a name for Felicia, nor does Wikipedia. Also, it still lists Jade and Danielle from Cycle 6 as Jade Roda and Danielle Mahoney. They are actually Jade Cole and Danielle Evans. That source is not reliable. 4.241.33.159 18:30, 19 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • In the absence of reliable sources for surnames, they have once again been removed. Editors here have admitted to making these names up, or relied on grapevine sources. In addition, the discussions both here and on the main series' talk page indicate that neither poptower nor realityworld.com are reliable, as they appear to have taken the surnames from wikipedia. Using these, therefore would fail WP:SELF and also violate WP:A. I ask editors NOT TO REINSTATE these unless their surnames are sourced such from, say, mainstream media articles. Ohconfucius 02:08, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Heights/Weights

edit

Where are people getting the models' height and weight stats from? Starcross 20:14, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Diana's height and weight is correct. She told a photographer her "numbers" during episode 1 at the Marc Ecko party. Jaslene was stated by Tyra in Cycle 7 to be 5'7" and "short". 219.74.196.91 04:36, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is Too much

edit

In the call out table "covergirl of the week is to much..the call out order has a lot of things

I tried to alleviate this on the 7th cycle by removing the random colors and putting the CoverGirl in bold (diff, perm), but it was reverted without further comment by Relinjin. I'd like to get further input on this. I think that it's a lot easier to read this way, because there aren't so many confusing colors. Any thoughts? tiZom(2¢) 00:44, 22 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm up for still using the colors than boldening/italicizing the letters. Anyways, it's the norm in many Wikipedia articles with tables to use color to signify something special. What's honestly more confusing, and looks bad is seeing the boldened letters in different places in the table, because the girls who become Cover Girl of the Week aren't all at the top of the list anyways. Hakushu8 14:16, 22 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
The colors weren't that confusing except for cover girl AND challenge winner. took me a second to figure that out. And I don't think cover girl of the week should be removed. just a glance at the table tells alot about the girls' standings, including viewer popularity130.245.209.38 01:15, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Callout Grid

edit

Just out of curiosity, how can the grid show the winner when the show isn't over yet? Sectori 02:06, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

It can be by overly eager vandals adding in who they want to/feel should win. 219.74.196.91 04:34, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Stop Removing the Call-Out Order!!!!!

edit

Just stop! It's relevant! Zaque 24 01:09, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree. Call-out stats are the RBI's of ANTM. In the future, the phenomena of ANTM will be compared to the futures of those who participated, and these stats will be relevant - not only to the show as a whole but to the individuals involved. Considering that this cycle is "in progress", I rather like the fact that it is "real time" and complete. Perhaps a redesign of the grid would take care of both somehow.24.148.31.36 06:53, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I take the idea of a redesign back somewhat. Actually, I kind of miss the inclusion of CoverGirl of the Week. It is a definitive statistic available at cwtv.com that comes from the perspective of the public and is verifiable.24.148.31.36 07:09, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Episode 13 Information

edit

Who put the "results" of episode 13 in the call-out order box?! There isn't any source for this, and the episode hasn't aired yet! Someone needs to remove this ASAP. I'm new here so I don't know hoe to edit that monster, but someone needs to very soon. Pikku 18:26, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Table for episode 12

edit

The table is informing the dance that the models represented, it is not vandalism because it is factual information. I have added the table once again.

Jaslene first and only winner never to be in the bottom two

edit

I think we should include this fact in the article somewhere. But where?

It's already in her profile, but we could put a reference to it into the summary of the final episode. Rebochan 18:15, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yoanna House isn't latina (Jaslene FIRST Latina winner)

edit

Yoanna is just pure White. Just because her mother's from Mexico doesn't make her latina (I don't understand why people like to make assumptions). Her Mother is the child of European immigrants to Mexico. (Ever wondered why Yoanna looks just White and not a bit latina/Hispanic?). If one is knowledgeable of the demographics of Mexico, its population doesn't just consist of Native Americans/Hispanics but also third/fourth generations of European immigrants, African immirgants and fresh East Asian (Chinese, Japanese and Korean) immigrants. Yoanna's mother is White and so is her father; Yoanna's mother is just a Mexico-born European. Thus, Yoanna is White. Hence, Jaslene is the FIRST Latina/Hispanic winner.

Naima Mora is also Mexican, so she is NOT the first. And the whole idea of being "full" latina is really subjective, & potentially racist. We don't know if Jaslene has purely Native ancestors, she could have African & European ancestors. It is highly unlikely she is not mixed. I think her being called full or pure Latina should be removed in order to be respectful of ALL latinos; native, afro, euro & all mixtures.Yoyodre (talk) 08:29, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Okay, if we're going to be technical, Jaslene's last name is Gonzalez, which is of Spanish origin. This means that someone in her lineage is of European descent. Yoanna House is the FIRST LATINA winner because her mother is Mexican, despite her lineage. Also, there is evidence of Yoanna embracing her LATINA roots because on several episodes, she had an altar with the Virgen de Guadalupe, who is the most important symbol and icon of faith for any Mexican. Naima Mora is the SECOND LATINA winner because she is also of Mexican descent. Therefore, Jaslene is the THIRD. If people are going to split hairs, then the arguement can also be made that since Jaslene is Puerto Rican, which is a culture of African, Spanish and Taino roots, then she might not be a true Latina either. Unfortunately, people probably don't consider Yoanna House a Latina because of her skin color. People associate Latinos with brown skin, but people need to travel throughout Latin America to get a true sense of what Latinos can look like, and get over their narrow perceptions. When I first saw Yoanna, I knew she was a Paisana. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Magickstone (talkcontribs) 06:48, 24 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Natasha first runner-up to survive more than two bottom two eliminations (she survived three)

edit

In ANTM history for the past cycles, the runner-ups NEVER survive bottom two eliminations more than twice:

Cycle 1: Shannon (2) Cycle 2: Mercedes (2) Cycle 3: Yaya (1) Cycle 4: Kahlen (1) Cycle 5: Nik (1) Cycle 6: Joanie (0) Cycle 7: Melrose (2) Cycle 8: Natasha (3) - Top 12, Top 4 and Top 3 eliminations

This is a rather interesting and important fact because for past cycles, the runner-ups are the ones who usually have higher callout averages and fewer bottom two appearences than even the winners.

RE: I noticed this as well so I stand by my opinion that while Natasha is a very good model and id not necessarily perform poorly in the competition, she did not perform as well as Renee, who had she been chosen as a finalist, would have never been in the bottom two making her the second runner-up, assuming she became one to Jaslene who had have had to win for obvious reasons, and then Anya Kop the third to do so.

Somebody please edit my punctuation. I believe that I used many unnecessary commas. B165789309 (talk) 06:13, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
