Missing background

What is missing here and in Tractorcade is the Background section for the motivations for the attempted organization of Farmers, and the farmer's "march" on D.C.. What were the farmers organizing for? What was the Tractorcade protesting? The Tractorcade page mentions that the protestors left D.C. when Carter promised to stop the foreclosures. Is the present text sufficient to imply that the rash of farm foreclosures was the reason for the AMM and Tractorcade? Is that implication accurate? Yes, there was a rash of farm foreclosures, but that is not sufficient, IMO. Why was parity an issue? IIRC, farmers had leveraged on their property value at first to expand operation, then to finance operations in following years of low yields and low prices. Real estate interest shot well over 10% and land prices collapsed, and underwater farmers were foreclosed on. This would not be easy to do accurately; a start at least would be to chart foreclosure rates in the 70s and 80s. IveGoneAway (talk) 20:18, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
