Talk:American Home Shield

Latest comment: 8 months ago by 50.76.4.169 in topic Money taken from my account after I had closed my account due to going into a nursing home and selling my house. You continued to take the monthly payment out of my checking account for seventeen months. I didn't receive monthly statements from the bank at the time because of trying to save money. When I requested to close the account I had to sign a paper that had to have my signature notarized. I had an insurance license for over ten years and that must be done, so please don't tell me you can close an account over the phone by just telling you. That's not legal and YOU KNOW IT. So I want a settlement from you. I need that money back as well as a settlement for the time and pain you have put me through . If I don't get this I will go to the authorities about your company as well as making this public. Also your office manager Marcia Green, I am very very very disappointed in. She at first Said that I definitely deserved my money back then after talking to you at the head office changed her view. She said that you closed an account over the phone. How stupid do you think I am? I have a very good IQ it's quite obvious you all there lack in that department. Also I will have to contact the Federal Authorities about this, as it is nothing more than theft. I want this settled within the next three days. NO LESS. IF YOU DO NOT ANSWER ME AND MAKE AMENDS FOR WHAT YOU HAVE TAKEN FROM ME (A'S IT WAS A CRIME) I WILL SEEK THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS HELP IN THIS MATTER. IF I HAVE TO TAKE THIS TO COURT YOU CAN ALSO INFORM MRS GREEN THAT I WILL INCLUDE HER IN THE SUIT. DONE

Restored

I restored this article, which was redirected. Concerns about promotional tone can be addressed by copy editing the article. North America1000 18:01, 5 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

I've started attempting to improve the article. To my surprise, one of the first things I found when searching for sources was a report in Forbes that ServiceMaster will be spinning off American Home Shield to operate independently again, starting in the third quarter of 2018. I've added that citation to a new section "Mergers and acquisitions". It's something anyone interested in learning about the company would likely want to know.

I've added a new section "Consumer reception". I don't think anyone could possibly see this article as promotional now—to say the least.

Citations

edit

The citations on this article are a bit of a mess, with eight citations on the two introductory sentences and then other sections missing citations altogether. Some of these citations seem broken too. I'm flagging this for myself to slowly work on over time. My plan is to first open all 17 citations, create any relevant links to the Internet Archive, then try to tease out what is supporting each statement. Also note that the article is using some present tense statements citing to articles from years ago (e.g., the "as of 2022" statement cites to an article from 2017, so the article couldn't possibly be supporting the claim). Any help welcome, though I realize not many people get sucked into the wikipedia article for a home warrantee company. Salient Edge (talk) 21:23, 7 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
