American Samoans selected for other teams
editCUA 27, I think the rationale for this deletion, diff, is overly narrow. Players of international standard eligible by birth choose not to play for American Samoa, typically for economic reasons. This limits the potential of the American Samoan team to a greater degree than for larger nations and it is, in that respect, relevant to the article. – Perhaps otherwise, as a corollary, the women's section in the US national team article, i.e. United States national rugby union team§Women's national team, should be deleted? – None of that team's players have represented the US (men's) national team, the subject of that article. Yet the information may be relevant to readers of that page in demarking the limits of the topic. -- Ham105 (talk) 00:46, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- Ham105 - Thanks for raising on the talk page. I agree the phenomenon is relevant, and in response to your message I have added back in the sentence I had removed describing the phenomenon. What I do take issue with, however, is maintaining a list of such players. We don't list here every player who played for the national team, and certainly don't need to list players who could have but didn't play for the national team. Having a list of players who someone wished had played for the national team but didn't is about as manageable as a list of players I hope will play for the national team some day. While there's no insistence on a complete, comprehensive, up-to-the-minute list when words such as "including" or "such as", etc., are used, CUA 27, nevertheless, I have expanded the information in paragraph form, per WP:PROSE, without, I trust, resorting to WP:PROSELINE. -- Ham105 (talk) 03:04, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
