Etymology??

edit

The etymology given here is for the adjective "Americana" as applied to all kinds of things. The use of the term as a musical genre comes a century and a half later -- this section should just be removed; it's completely off-topic, about the word rather than the subject of this entry. Expanded history section

edit

I expanded the history section, copying and pasting relevant material from other Wikipedia articles with some minor edits. Tried to provide a sense for how the genre developed over the years. I'm new to editing here, just wanted to give credit to the original articles. I'd like to clean up that section at some point in the future and link to the original articles. edit

The reference to “sawing “ is not an American term, and the reference article is specifically Canadian.

this section sorely needs editing by an actual Americana fiddler. 2601:903:4082:CE0:590C:27FF:3E91:AEEE (talk) 21:19, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
