Protein biosynthesis says humans get 9 of their 20 amino acids from their diet and this article says that humans manufacture 12 of their 20 amino acids. 67.162.10.70 (talk) 04:40, 16 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

What makes which

edit

I came to this page to get a sense of which organisms produce which amino acids. It would be nice if the article addressed this. Jake (talk) 23:48, 21 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Too long headings

Please fix this issue. --Hartz (talk) 08:23, 24 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

adding a diagram with all the biochemical pathways in it

edit

I was thinking of adding a summary figure that includes the pathways of all of the non-essential amino acids biosynthesis in humans however these would be had drawn. So dose anyone have any thoughts Nheyer (talk) 22:52, 27 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Conflicting/outdated information on histidine

edit

This article states that histidine is non-essential. However, both the articles on histidine and on essential amino acids state that histidine IS essential. 176.72.1.113 (talk) 11:17, 26 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Nonsensical statement at the end of first section

edit

"The pathways for the biosynthesis of essential amino acids are much more complex than those for the nonessential ones."

Are essential amino acids not defined by the fact that they cannot be synthesized (as stated at the beginning of this section)? How can the synthesis pathway be "much more complex" if it doesn't exist at all? 176.72.1.113 (talk) 11:29, 26 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Where are amino acids synthesized?

edit

The article doesn't say where amino acids are synthesized. Encyclopedia Britannica says, "Some d-amino acids are found in microorganisms, particularly in the cell walls of bacteria and in several of the antibiotics. However, these are not synthesized in the ribosome." and this seems to imply that some amino acids are synthesized in the ribosome.
