Talk:Ammonium persulfate

Shouldn't the structure show a peroxy bond? I count only 7 oxygens.

We need an structure formula image. Lord Metroid 13:14, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Question: Neutralizing Ammonium Persulfate Solution

edit

I have a barrel of Ammonium persulfate solution that was used as an etchant for brass (therefore it has some copper in solution as well). What can I use to best neutralize this solution? Is there any other value/purpose that this solution could be used for?

Thankyou.

It's been a year, so I'm guessing that barrel of acid is gone by now. But, FYI, Sodium bicarbonate of sodium carbonate are both cheap and effective at neutralizing Ammonium persulfate.Alister 77 (talk) 05:17, 20 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Really? Ammonium persulfate is an oxidizer, not an acid, (though it's often dissolved in 98 % sulfuric acid). --Rifleman 82 (talk) 05:34, 20 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

It is also a standard ingredient in western blot gels  : this is redundant with acrylamide polymerization,as western blot gels (a messed meaningless phrase in itself) are made, usually (but not always; see titin westerns) are made from acrylamide should also mention that K persulphate is more stable , and widespread use of NH4 in biol solely due to K:SDS ppts — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.236.121.54 (talk) 14:09, 26 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
