"Pop"
editI know it's sourced, but do we really need "pop" listed in the genres? The infobox was already getting cluttered with genres as it was, and we already have pop rock and electropop, making just "pop" look redundant. It would be like listing "rock" as well. It might have slide if only one or two genres were listed, but not six. Kokoro20 (talk) 19:23, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Then I’d recommend just having electropop and electronic rock as the genres, because they all encompass pop, electronic, alternative rock, and rock. ~// This is a contribution by The Edit King 👑 \\~
- Except, neither of those genres encompass alternative rock or hard rock. A case could probably be made for removing electronica, however, because electronic rock and electropop are already based on that genre. Kokoro20 (talk) 21:19, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
Sugar Honey Ice & Tea a single?
editI know a music video is coming out later today, but is it actually confirmed the song is becoming a single? TIAH had quite a few videos for non-singlesSolitude6nv5 (talk) 08:57, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Solitude6nv5: Yes confirmed. In this promotional video from BMTH's facebook it says its a single. Boofhead185 (talk) 15:49, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
capitalization
editWhy is the proper capitalisation not allowed for this album? like most tracks spelled in lower case, whereas other articles that use that actually use all lowercase tracklists and everything and if asked why its basically said thats because the artists put them that way. its a double standard IMO Tapio1994 (talk) 10:01, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Tapio1994: Please check: Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters. Wikipedia uses standard English capitalization in its writing, not various stylizations musicians use. So please do not add ALLCAPS titles or lowercase titles to the track list. Bowling is life (talk) 15:07, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
- As Bowling said, we use title case for song titles. If another article is doing something different, please raise the issue there. - SummerPhDv2.0 16:50, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
Well like I said many pages on wikipedia have the thing were ome tracks in tracklists are all caps or all lower case, or maybe in egregious cases written LiKE thIS (to make a point) but they stay as is. And in my eyes it should be that way. But I personally think its bullshit. Like on one page it can stay a certain way and in another you even get a warning when you try to change it. Like I said, I consider using "abstract" (for lack of a better word) capitalizations artistic choice. And in my mind that should be respected, ESPECIALLY (again) if some pages allow it and some don't. Just look at albums by a band called Autechre. Sure many of their song titles aren't even words, but even IF they are and they're written in all lowercase, they are all lowercase in the tracklist ON WIKIPEDIA. And, as I said, they should remain that way. Its like quoting something with errors and adding (sic) at the end. To repeat as an ending to my rant: Why make rules when you're not even sure how to deal with them. Oh and I almost forgot database site Discogs had a similar rule but thanks to albums such as amo that use various type of case types, it was changed so that if an artist "specifies" lowercase or uppercase text, it can be input accordingly. - We essentially have two issues here: 1) How should Wikipedia handle capitalization in titles. 2) How do we enforce the decision in 1 so that the site is consistent?
- 1) Currently our policy on the matter is to use title case, as explained at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters. If you disagree with this, the discussion should take place at a higher level. Given that there are hundreds of thousands of articles on Wikipedia that include song titles, it is unreasonable to expect that what you see done at "other articles" is a reasonable way to measure what the consensus is. That is what policies are for. Rather than arguing at one page for how you feel Wikipedia should handle hundreds of thousands of articles, discuss it on the talk page of the relevant policy (Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Capital letters) or at the "village pump" (WP:PUMP).
- 2) Policy/MOS/guideline pages allow for centralized discussions. To determine how the project handles capitalization of song titles, disputed birthdates in biographies, "spoilers" in movie plots, etc., policy pages allow for consistency, rather than answers that vary by the song articles, biographies or movie plots you happen to check.
- Bowling is life and I are saying Wikipedia's Manual of style says to use title case for song titles. Additionally, I am saying you can possibly change that by discussing the issue and making your case, but not here. If you wish to pursue the issue, please take it to Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Capital letters or WP:PUMP. - SummerPhDv2.0 04:02, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
