editis the map incorrect with San Jose printed at the south end rather than san diego? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.112.77.13 (talk • contribs) 23:47, November 19, 2005.
The description of the cafe cars is contradictory. Quoted below: "Consists on the San Joaquins and Capitol Corridor routes usually include about five cars, with one locomotive and a cab control car on the other end. One of the five cars is a cafe car, with regular seating on the upper floor, and a cafe with two tables on the lower floor. On San Joaquins and Capitol Corridor Trains, the cafe is on the upper floor entirely and the lower level of the cafe is a crew area. Consists on the Pacific Surfliner, however, are not as consistent since some Amtrak-owned equipment is also used."
It says the cafe is on the lower floor and on the upper floor (one of these is incorrect, or one of these descriptions fits the San Joaquins, and the other for the Capitol Corridor. 146.201.142.72 (talk) 12:39, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Actually both are correct. I believe the older series cafe cars (8000 series) have cafe at upper level, while newer ones (6000 series) have cafe at lower level. --Will74205 (talk) 21:41, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
San Joaquin line and Los Angeles
editI believe it is not strictly correct to say "Los Angeles is not served" by the San Joaquin line. If I remember correctly, there is a Bakersfield to Los Angeles Amtrak Bus (motorcoach) that allows Los Angeles passengers to tranfer from and to the San Joaquin line in Bakersfield. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.109.157.170 (talk) 05:13, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
Amtrak California vs. Caltrans
editThis article acts as though the Caltrans Division of Rail and Amtrak California are the same thing, but I think that's open to question. See [1] and [2]. Amtrak California appears to encompass the San Joaquin and the Pacific Surfliner, while the Capitol Corridor is a related service (see also [3]). Mackensen (talk) 12:24, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
- I think you're right. The Pacific Surfliner and San Joaquin are operated under the Amtrak California brand, while the Capitol Corridor is operated under its own brand.
- For clarification, the Caltrans Division of Rail provides funding to all three routes and also owns the locomotives and cars used on the San Joaquin & Capitol Corridor (meaning the cars used on the Capitol Corridor carry the Amtrak California brand). It also owns some of the cars used on the Pacific Surfliner but Amtrak owns the locomotives and a large portion of the cars. Caltrans does not manage the Capitol Corridor, it's instead managed by a joint powers authority. But it appears that it will stop managing any routes in the next few years; local governments are pushing to create joint powers authorities for both the Pacific Surfliner and San Joaquin.
- That being said... I would be hesitant to remove the Capitol Corridor from this page. Maybe we could just better explain the differences. RickyCourtney (talk) 19:25, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

California State Rail Plan 2018
editHey all,
Just curious to see what you would think about adding the new details for the CASRP for 2018. This would play a major role on how Amtrak CA would operate, and I wonder if this would warrant space on Amtrak California's page. Here's the link to the fact sheet: http://www.dot.ca.gov/californiarail/docs/CASRP_Factsheet_Dec21editsJan11.pdf
