* At one point, when asked by Baldrick if he is becoming a highwayman, Blackadder sarcastically replies 'No, I'm auditioning for the role of Arnold the Bat in Sheridan's new comedy!'. This could be a reference to the novel Carmilla by Joseph Sheridan le Fanu.
Except that Carmilla isn't a play, or a comedy; le Fanu wouldn't be refered to as "Sheridan"; and 1870 is a bit anachronistic even for Blackadder, surely? On the other hand, Richard Brinsley Sheridan was a comedy playwright from the Regency period. Daibhid C (talk) 18:18, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
This has now been changed to "a possible reference..." but really it needs to go altogether. I would suggest replacing with. "This appears to be a reference to the playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan."
