Confused

Is it a he or a she? Could someone who knows this particular individual's history please rewrite the article? - Richardcavell 11:28, 3 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

When is it appropriate to make an article name change?

edit

I'm wondering when it is appropriate to make a change to the name of this article? My understanding is that Beatriz is known as "Bia Figueiredo" prior to driving in the States, now she is refered to as "Ana Beatriz". I understand Helio Castroneves had a similar situation. So, if anyone has any thoughts on when it might be appropriate to rename this article, please share, whether it be "Never" or "Now" or somewhere in between. Thanks. Whoever made contributions regarding her name, thanks! But this info really needs to have supporting WP:Cites especially because its a WP:BLP. If you know of some cites, that'd be really helpful. ZueJay (talk) 00:40, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

New website

edit

The following information was added to the article in an assumed WP:Good faith edit:

Bia's official website has been updated. Fans were so displeased with the phenom's name change(from Bia to Ana Beatriz) management has altered their website to address her long-time fans and her new fans in America. There's a Latin version and American version of her website. On the Latin version she goes by Bia Figueiredo. If you click on the American version of the website, she goes by the name Ana Beatriz. Confusing to say the least. Google Ana Beatriz and you're most likely to get several websites linked to a Brazilian Super Model instead of Ana Beatriz the driver. American writers are slowly cathing on. They are now calling her Bia Beatriz.

This information is very useful, so thabks to the editor for calling attention to this evolving change. Changes will be made to the article shortly after the information has been verified. ZueJay (talk) 05:21, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is all very confusing. She is listed as Ana Beatriz on the websites of both the Indy Car series in which she races, and by the Indianapolis 500 for which she just qualified, so why is she still listed here on English Wikipedia under a name she apparently doesn't wish to use in English-speaking countries? Bia FigueiredoAna Beatriz – per WP:COMMONNAME. Just as William Jefferson Clinton is at Bill Clinton, and Samuel Clemens is at Mark Twain, this racing driver's best known name is Ana Beatriz, not Bia Figueiredo, as that is the name she uses when competing in the IZOD IndyCar Series - the highest level of open-wheel racing competition in the Western Hemisphere - and in the Indianapolis 500, which I would presume needs no further comment as regards its status! As "Ana Beatriz" is the name by which she is most commonly known by the largest number of people, I believe that it is the appropriate title for her Wikipedia page.
