Talk:Anatomy of the Ship series

The two titles by Doug McElvogue - The Athenian Trireme and The Mary Rose - were never actually published as far as I know. If anyone knows otherwise then I would be very interested to hear about it. Lostdistance (talk) 14:09, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Mary Rose - which has vanished from the list - was actually published in 2017 or thereabouts, but only in softcover format (as far as I have seen); same as "The earliest Boats" by Gardiner, but I'm not sure if it's "officially" part of the series. The "yellow/silver" vs. "blue/silver" does only really apply for the 2nd edition run; while the initial series was mostly "yellow" and "grey", apparently Conway had some more sub-series in mid - QM has red, Bertha Downs and Lawhill have blue as their heading colours.

The table could do with some updates; the distinction between reprints and revised editions is not clear and not quite correct I think. E.g. I have Hood as an original 1982 version and 3rd reprint 1989 (2nd 1983); Endeavour also had an early reprint (one of few for which I have no 1st edition of). As far as I can see, all issues with "scale plan on reverse of DJ" are 2nd "revised" edition (though I am not sure how much actually was revised, as the 2nd Ed. Fairmile book has obviously an introduction that was written 20 years previously. Easily deducted from the fact that J. Lambert thanks some Al Ross, both of which co-authored the wonderful Allied Coastal Forces two-volume work a couple of years later, also on the Conway imprint.
