Time-Clock Habits Then Still Active 40 Years Later

edit

Observation from working at the pottery in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Many older employees who worked there during the A vs MCP era were paid per piece back in the 30s and 40s. Devades later, they still came in an hour before they could punch in and sit on the long benches that lined the walls before the time-clock. Their podition on those old bemches ensured they would be the first to punch-in and walk to their workstations several minutes before the later-arriving, back of the line, newer workers had their turn to punch in. Those extra minutes during the old piecemeal days meant a lot during that by-gone era. Although by the 70s, that era was long gone. Old habits die hard!
