André passed away before "Son of the Pink Panther" went into production is not very encyclopedic, it should say when he died, if that is the case. If it is the case then he should not be lidted within the living actors category!! 84.66.187.158 23:14, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Andre Maranne is alive as of this date and living in Brighton, England. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.169.100.206 (talk) 04:49, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

That is fine if Maranne is still alive, but according to who?Oanabay04 (talk) 16:19, 25 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

According to a neighbour of his in Brighton, apparently (see the edit dated 7 Dec, 2009), and according to me, a relative of Maranne's wife. If anyone doubts this, then I think it should be up to them to find real proof to the contrary (and something better than the IMDb site, because they have it wrong too). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.169.100.206 (talk) 05:51, 29 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

This all seems debatable as to whether or not André Maranne is still alive. I’ve discovered his birth name was Andre Gaston Maillol (http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/44317/pages/5742). There’s no date of death given on his page at the British Film Industry (http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/individual/258317) and from this I can’t find anybody with either name whose died on Find My Past or Ancestry. He was among the cast of a BBC Radio 4 dramatisation of Murder on the Orient Express over Christmas 1993/New Year 1994 (www.andomain.co.cc/gregorym101/poirot1.html) so it would have had to have been recorded a few months previously (unless it was a repeat). Perhaps we should have confirmation from Mr. Maranne himself or he should attend an MCM Expo/Memorabilia/Doctor Who event to prove he’s still with us. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.33.199.76 (talk) 15:30, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

On 192.com, if you do a search for Andre Maillol, it’ll give a result for a person living in Brighton registered on the 2002-05 Electoral Roll, which is him and proof to me that Andre Maranne is still alive. (We probably would have heard if he passed away after 2005.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.33.199.76 (talk) 10:35, 21 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, if I have fallen into a trap, but we have this one, two, three four sites in addition to IMDb suggesting André Maranne passed away in 1992. Can they all be an error? It is the IMDb comment sections which are not reliable sources for the purposes of WP editors. Philip Cross (talk) 16:16, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I have checked The Guardisn digital archive which does not feature an obituary. As he probably would have received such an article, I think I have answered my own question. Will revert. Philip Cross (talk) 16:46, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I was checking up about André Maranne, to see if he was dead or alive. I came across a forum website (I know forums aren't the best sources) but one of the users (who I'am unable to track down) said in the forum that he interviewed Dr. Herb Tanney (Blake Edwards' personal physician and a regular extra in his films). He asked Dr. Tanney if Maranne was alive or not and Tanney confirmed that Maranne died before "Son of the Pink Panther" entered production (here's the link http://therapeuticpink.proboards.com/thread/506/andre-maranne-moranne-francois?page=1&scrollTo=994) or he could have just cut his ties with acting and went quiet. Death

edit

According to the French article, Maranne died in 1992. This info was added by fr:Utilisateur:Kohono and is unfortunately unsourced. Moreover, this user has since ceased to edit, so it may be difficult to find out where he got this info from. But just in case anyone should care, this person does not seem to be "possibly living". As a relative of his, I can assure you that Andre is still alive (and still living in Brighton) as of this date (September 12, 2018).

Birth

edit

Moving this from his page – another editor added it and it is suitable for there: "Note: It is interesting to note that the Europe, Registration of Foreigners and German Persecutees, 1939-1947 have records for an André Mailhol, born 21 January 1922 in Toulouse. Could this be André Maranne? If so, it makes him next in line to become Doctor Who 's fifth centenarian. The electoral registers give the actor's birth year as 1924–1926 but that could be incorrect. (They listed Pat Gorman's year of birth as 1930–1932 when it was really 1933.) Can anyone confirm/deny the 1922 date?" Thanks --Jkaharper (talk) 11:31, 11 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
