he's the editor of a weekly column and the editor of other work? If not, this needs to be rewritten. 218.14.51.129 (talk) 10:13, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
- Indeed. And it finally has been
Notability
editThe subject of this article is not obviously notable. The sources used by the article are:
- The Foyles website - this is a dead link. The Foyles site lists books by this man, but the part on the site for biographical information has been deleted (assuming that it ever existed. This suggests that Foyles do not consider him notable.
- His "profile" on the Guardian newspaper. He works for the Guardian. This is therefore not an independent source.
- A biography on a website called The Edge I suspect he provides articles for The Edge. The biography is the kind of biography you do for one of your contributors. It is not the kind of biography you do of someone you are writing about. So I do not think that The Edge is an independent source.
- A book he wrote. Again not an independent source.
If you read one of his websites,[1] he claims to have won various prizes as a journalist and author. Maybe that makes him notable. I am not sure that the prizes are of sufficient eminence for that. If they are, there should be independent coverage of him in reliable sources.--Toddy1 (talk) 18:20, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- Aside from his ubiquitous self-promotion (in the resume he supplies for his employer's websites) there seems to be little written about him. I don't see the independent coverage that makes him notable. Jason from nyc (talk) 14:29, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
- I've fixed the article. It's still a stub and is likely to remain one for the time being, given that most of the stuff that's out there is about his work rather than himself, but I've found multiple reviews for his books. This would help him pass WP:AUTHOR for the most part. As far as the awards go, the Orwell Prize is somewhat major. I'd argue that it helps contribute notability, although I don't really think it's the type that would have kept the article on that basis alone if I hadn't been able to find the reviews for his books. I'll try to add what I can source as far as the other awards go, but I don't really like linking to primary blogs or websites. If I can find mention of him on the Templeton prize website then that's good, but I'm leery of linking to an author's website. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:41, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
