Andrew Mason (businessman)
editI've added all I could find about him. Would appreciate some other users finding out more personal information about him (birthdate, residence, etc.). William (talk) 04:12, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
He really needs a WHOLE page? --92.30.198.220 (talk) 06:02, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
The founder of a huge tech startup? Yeah. 129.105.104.185 (talk) 04:35, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
Requested move 1
edit- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Not moved, per the opposition, there is no evidence that the subject is the primary topic. —James (Talk • Contribs) • 11:35pm • 13:35, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
Andrew Mason (businessman) → Andrew Mason — Primary topic. Marcus Qwertyus 16:30, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose. I can't see any evidence that he's the primary topic. He doesn't even have a very long article. I doubt whether many people have actually heard of him. -- Necrothesp (talk) 19:47, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
- Support more likely to be searched for than any other Andrew Mason on the disambiguation page. Not just recentism, as notability is likely to last - and other articles are about retired athletes. Peter E. James (talk) 22:53, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
- Support for the following reason.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 05:07, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
- According to http://stats.grok.se/
- Andrew_Mason_(businessman) has been viewed 2415 times in 201104.
- Andrew_Mason_(cricketer) has been viewed 19 times in 201104.
- Andrew_Mason_(rugby_league) has been viewed 18 times in 201104.
- Andy_Mason has been viewed 31 times in 201104.
- Oppose. None of the subjects are particularly notable. Of course the web-based businessman gets more page views than people in fields unrelated to the web; This is a classic case of web-based statistics being misleading. Leave the DAB where it is. Andrewa (talk) 10:40, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

Requested move 2

The result of the proposal was moved per primary topic. --rgpk (comment) 19:49, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Andrew Mason (businessman) → Andrew Mason – More than 10,000 page views in the past month. That is 70 times more page views than the footballer (82) and the cricketer (65) combined (and they aren't getting any younger). Primary topic suggests that to be the primary topic, the article only needs to have more page views than all the others combined. This person meets that requirement 70 times. Marcus Qwertyus 00:14, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- Support-per my thoughts in prior discussion.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 19:03, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- Support. The page view stats shown in the nom are enough to prove the businessman is the primary topic. Jenks24 (talk) 10:46, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
- Support, page views seem convincing (even though there is doubtless an element of recentism about them).--Kotniski (talk) 08:47, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Heritage
editI tired to edit this article, and received a message from Creffet suggesting I might have a conflict of interest with this article. (Or the statement I tried to edit. I'm not sure, and I can't see how to answer that "Talk" session.) I'm an old woman, trying to learn something new during my granddaughter's nap time. I've tried to read and understand what is necessary to make a correction, and reading "Conflict of Interest" only confuses me. I don't understand why I can't make this change, which would benefit the system because it would be CORRECT/TRUE information.
The first sentence in "Early Life" states that Mr. Mason grew up in a Jewish family in Mt. Lebanon. It is true that he grew up in Mt. Lebanon, and while we have a nice mixture of ethnicities and faiths in this neighborhood, Andrew did not grow up in a Jewish family. Nor did I, his mother, nor did his father.
The reference {Reference #3) for this statement is from an article in the Daily Deal Media written by Megan Bildner. I don't believe Ms. Bildner ever actually interviewed Andrew, and certainly never interviewed his mother or father.
I don't want to (ever) write an article. I just want to correct inaccurate information about something/someone with whom I am very familiar.. If anyone can help me understand why I'm not allowed to make this change, or why I might have a "conflict of interest" with the article, I'd certainly appreciate it.
