Metcalfe's Law is Wrong

edit

Here's another interesting and impressive paper: "Metcalfe's Law is Wrong", Bob Briscoe, Andrew Odlyzko, and Benjamin Tilly, IEEE Spectrum, July 2006. (It's already mentioned in our Metcalfe's Law article, which IMO overstates the disagreement between Metcalfe and Briscoe/Odlyzko/Tilly.) Should we mention it in this article? Odlyzko seems to have been born in about 1950. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.194.200 (talk) 16:25, 21 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

The Decline of Unfettered Research

edit

Article is currently missing a section about this essay of his, probably the most heavily referenced work (by the wider R&D world) that he's ever published. RZiman (talk) 01:47, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

PDF copy of the essay (from Odlyzko's own complete publication list -- https://www-users.cse.umn.edu/~odlyzko/doc/complete.html):
