Year of birth
editTo whomever is interested, according to Arhiva.net, Hebrang Sr. was born in 1889, not 1899, although that may just be a typo. Just trying to be helpful. Could anyone explain (here is fine) where is the evidence that this gentleman was Jewish? I am really astonished to read this. Thanks, Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 17:48, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Andrija's Jewish Faith
editI found it interesting how this article lists Andrija as Jewish, yet there are no references to that. And it's not only me, but another user found this strange as well. I know for a fact that his WIFE was Jewish and by that rule his two sons are. Andrija, the father, was not born a Jew, and he did not convert because as anyone would know many high-ranking communist officials renounced any form of faith and became atheist. So, why does wikipedia have this strange tendency to list people who are not Jews as Jewish? I would like to know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.207.83.26 (talk) 19:05, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- This is very likely erroneous. The article on Croatian Wikipedia is significantly more detailed (and also a FA there), but makes no mention of him being a Jew. Removed the category. GregorB (talk) 00:29, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
- @Rms125a@hotmail.com: the time does fly, it's been nearly six years since your initial comment, and more than four years since my last comment, but let's settle this. The Vjesnik link appears to be irretrievable, and I've found no independent support for A. Hebrang Sr mother being Jewish. I suspect a mix-up with A. Hebrang Jr - his mother was Jewish, of course (Olga Hebrang). All things considered, the evidence is too flimsy, and I've removed this bit of information without prejudice against reintroducing it later should a more solid ref be found. - I entirely forgot my comment from 2009. I can't resolve the issue. It's either true or not. You guys have access to non-English language media and resources that I don't have. If you think there is sufficient evidence that she was Jewish, fine. If not, delete, or leave as "reportedly". However, even if she was that doesn't guarantee, based on his likely secular upbringing and later communist ideology, that Hebrang had "Jewish Faith", per se. - Andrija Hebrang (father) → Andrija Hebrang (politician, born 1899)
- Andrija Hebrang (son) → Andrija Hebrang (politician, born 1946)
– The current disambiguation is nonstandard. I never saw it at any other articles. The proposed disambiguation is what you get with two people of the same name, occupation, and nationality. (t · c) buidhe 12:24, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
- Support per WP:NCPDAB; father and son are not absolute terms, and certainly not a "noun indicating what the person is noted for being in their own right." -- Ab207 (talk) 13:17, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
