Starting to review this. --PresN 20:45, 8 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • I don't think the rating is so important that it needs to be in the first sentence, maybe move it to the second; usually it's not included at all, though I guess you're trying to distinguish it from Key's adult games
  • "television series Angel Beats! originally conceived" - comma after Beats
  • "did not want to include choices for the player that would not serve to diverge the plot, so the choices given were designed to have an effect on the plot and character interactions." - diverge? Do you mean "did not want to include choices for the player that would not have meaningful effect, so the choices given were focused to have an effect on the plot and character interactions."?
  • Okay, I'm cutting myself off here, because I just realized what's going on. The article starts out presenting itself as for the entire game, but it isn't; it's just about the first episode of 6... and the other 5 aren't out yet. Are you planning on adding the other 5 episodes onto this article when they are released, or having a separate article for each one? Because they really should all be together- 6 articles for one game is way to much- and if they're together here, then this article can't be a GA because it's incomplete. Actually, it's pretty much incomplete no matter what- it gives no indication about what the other episodes will be about, how they connect to this one, when they'll come out, anything. As such, I'm going to have to fail this GAN on the basis that the article is inherently unstable and incomplete- it's about a mid-progress episodic video game. Feel free to renominate it once it's done- the article was looking pretty good for what I saw of it. --PresN 20:58, 8 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
    • PresN Thanks for the review. Yes, I was planning on putting all six volumes of the game into this article once all of them are out. And yeah, so far, no news has been given for the other 5 volumes, so I can understand why this article is not eligible for GA yet. However, given that this is a community assessment of the article akin to a peer review, I would like some further comments on the article as it stands so that I can fix any further problems and add it to Wikipedia:Featured topics/Key video games to satisfy criterion 3(c) of WP:WIAFT, because it'll probably be a few years before all six volumes of the game are out.-- 21:27, 8 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Okay, review take 2:
  • "Otonashi is asked to join the SSS by its founder and leader Yuri Nakamura, a girl with a determined personality not only is she skilled with a gun, but also hand-to-hand combat." - grammar, gets odd at "personality"
  • I feel like the story section goes a bit too far into detail about the various characters' weapons and roles in the organization; doubly so because there is a characters article that covers it already, and none of the details of characters' roles and personalities is needed to understand the plot as expressed in this article. It's fine for now, I guess, but once the other parts get released the minor details should get replaced with more of the actual plot.
  • In setting you say that GDM is a four-girl band, but in story you say there are five girls in it
  • "Maeda continued to develop the project, although prioritized" -> although he prioritized
  • "which lead the game's official announcement not to be until" -> which led the game to not be announced until
  • "One of the reasons for multiple volumes had to do with the large number" -> One of the reasons for multiple volumes was the large number
  • "of Angel Beats!‍‍ '‍s story, so Baba thought that" -> of Angel Beats!‍‍ '‍s story; Baba thought that
  • "Maeda did not want to include choices that would not serve to diverge the plot" - same as in the lead
  • Why are the minigames not mentioned in gameplay?
  • "according to Baba, a fact he honestly found odd." -> according to Baba, which he found odd.
  • Not an issue for GA, but just as a general note: there's a lot of phrasing in this article, especially in development, that's pretty loose and wordy, verging on casual- it reads like someone's speaking the phrases with more conversational English, rather than being tightly-written prose. Try to see in the future if you can use less words to say the same thing- "Maeda also thought it would have been better if the volumes had been first released on the PlayStation Vita" as "Maeda also felt that the volumes should be released first on the PlayStation Vita", for example. Most of the sentences in this section could use a word or 4 cut from them to make the reading smoother, even if they're grammatically fine.
  • "Na-Ga, who [...] also provides the designs" - tense and word repetition, use "created"
  • Game demo should just be demo
  • "Piano arrange album" is one of those odd Japanese title translation quirks; if it's not used a proper title it should be "piano arrangement album" or "album of piano arrangements". Also, arrangements of what, the game's soundtrack? Same thing when you repeat this information in the next section; maybe you should cut some of this "extras" list, or at least the bit that you repeat one paragraph later.
That's it! --PresN 16:33, 9 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the more detailed review. Some things I'll clarify for future reference.
  • For the story/characters section, I tried to condense the lengthy list on the main article so that it'd be easier to go over in this article. My main reason for that is because there isn't really a traditional "story" being presented here. Instead, the "story" is presented in the individual character routes, and generally only effects on major character per route. Obviously, to end up putting 20 or so character routes in the story section would be excessive, so an overview of the characters is given to give the reader of this article some idea of what the game is going to be focusing on once all 6 volumes are out. That, and I read that there will be characters in later volumes that weren't in the anime, and including them in this article would be an issue with some other format.
  • Minigames have not been added to gameplay yet because there didn't appear to be any in the first volume, but the interview cited in the development section was pretty clear that there would be some, so I'm assuming that means in later volumes. As it stands, although I can't confirm whether the first volume has minigames or not, I think the line about them being included in the gameplay section should stay as a record of the development process, even if that means eventually rewriting it to say that although Baba eventually agreed to putting in minigames, none were included in the end, which obviously I won't know until after all 6 volumes are out.-- 20:55, 9 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
