According to the Famous Birthdays website, she was. I am not sure how reliable it is. No other website I've seen mentions the US when discussing her... in any context, actually. Oxford is definitely where she grew up. Perhaps someone with a subscription to Who's Who could shed some light. Surtsicna (talk) 17:56, 29 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I saw that site and thought it was probably deprecated or considered wholly unreliable. But I've been able to log into Who's Who online with my local library card, and her (quite modest) entry says this:
"Born Oxford 2 Jan. 1950; d of Kenneth Knowles and Eunice Knowles; partner, David Russell; one s by a previous marriage".
Thank you, Martinevans123. That is quite a modest entry indeed. Interestingly, the entry suggests that Knowles was her former last name, but it is not explicitly stated by any source I've found. Surtsicna (talk) 06:26, 30 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's not quite as modest as just that, but I assume can't copy all of it here for copyright? How do we explain the conflict between the names given for her partner? Martinevans123 (talk) 09:04, 30 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Her marital history is not quite clear to me either. We have a source that explicitly says she was married twice and divorced once. She was married to Russell Stockdale from at least the early 1990s to... his death in late 2021? They separated in 2003 but there is nothing about a divorce. The names David Russell and Russell Stockdale are suspiciously similar. Could David Russell have been her partner after the separation from Russell Stockdale? I suggest not paying too much attention to the matter. See also WP:SPOUSE. Russell Stockdale is important to mention because he played a part in her career and the sources discuss him but the other one/two probably not. Surtsicna (talk) 20:00, 30 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
