Gerald of Wales

Not an experienced Wiki contributor so forgive me if this does not follow guidelines...

The article mentions Gerald of Wales, a cleric and clerk in the court of Henry II. John Gillingham (Gillingham, John; "The English In the Twelfth Century: Imperialism, National Identity and Political Values"; Boydell Press; 20000) asserts that "Gerald of Wales" is incorrect and that his proper name, "Gerald de Barri" should be used. The latter form is more informative in that the participle "de" signifies a Norman name. BobMcK (talk) 16:25, 7 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
