What do we do about the YouTube Mapping sub-heading?

We're probably unable to cite its origin, plus even if its origin was already covered within Mapping-related wikis, we cannot cite a wiki. CaranHaes (talk) 14:52, 10 August 2022 (UTC)

Countryball mapping is un-notable, and hence its mention shall be likewise removed.

The notability of the forenamed niche of YouTube Mapping is, for the most part, questionable, given its futility in the coverage of complex subjects. Its coverage of subjects is held with a high amount of simplification. It is hence mostly incomprehensive, depriving it of its contribution towards animated mapping. CaranHaes, I understand your argument. However YouTube mapping is actually quite complex.For example my favorite mapper Kyiv mapping has to create wars, storylines, and have a variety to keep people interested. Also,it takes at least 2 weeks to create an episode. So in reality these guys have to have a ridiculously cramped schedule and most mappers have school, uni, or a job to fit in as well. All in all, it's quite hard and complex to create these videos and although they don't really make contributions to the tech that goes into this. It's still cool to see the storylines that goes into making these videos Jake the brain (talk) 12:52, 27 October 2022 (UTC)

YouTube as a way to host Animated Maps is notable enough to warrant a line in the history section. I use it to host my animated maps all the time, it is a common tool for cartographers. A list of YouTuber's Channels is not appropriate. I have made adjustments and moved some sections around accordingly. User:Jake the brain, I understand this is your first article you've worked on, but this is a collaborative effort. You will need to learn as you go, leaving a list because you personally want it is not how Wikipedia works. GeogSage (talk) 18:25, 27 October 2022 (UTC)

You mean the Wikipedia page for YouTube? If so, I have no idea. Looking at that page, I don't know where I would place such a subcategory. If you think it would fit, I would recommend going on the talk page and discussing it with people involved on it.

Looking at the YouTube page, I found a page called YouTube poop that details a specific type of YouTube video. If you are really interested in this topic, perhaps you can try to use that as a template and create a separate Wiki page. GeogSage (talk) 04:45, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

Alternative history and other fictional cartography

User:Materialscientist rightly reverted a contribution by an anonymous editor discussing the use of Animated Maps in Alternative History. I apricate their taking the initiative to do this, however the reason, while correct, could go further. They reverted it because it was unsourced "original research." While this is certainly true, I don't doubt that somewhere online some source exists on using animation to show alternative history. This is not the reason I was thinking about reverting it, so to expand upon this decision after taking time to research and think about it, I would like to propose that topics like alternative history, even if well sourced, be placed on the Fantasy cartography Wikipedia page.
