Conflict of interest and Sullivan Entertainment promotional material
editI've tagged this article as WP:COI and started trimming some of the more overtly promotional material recently added. See this discussion at WP:COIN for more details. Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 16:39, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- There's still copyvio material in the synopsis, but adding the {{copyvio}} tag broke the rest of the page. Compare with this Delicious carbuncle (talk) 16:41, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Copyright problem removed
editOne or more portions of this article duplicated other source(s). In addition to that linked above, it also duplicated the television listing at this URL: https://www.wmht.org/pdf/outlook.pdf?PHPSESSID=9b853f1f6. It seems likely that subsequent material in the section was also duplicative. Infringing material has been rewritten and must not be restored, unless it is duly released under a license compatible with GFDL. Needs to be moved to Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel
editMy understanding of Wikipedia policy is the title of the article should reflect the title of country of origin; as this was produced in Canada as Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel and aired there under that title (indeed, according to the DVD featurette "The Sullivan Classic" on the recent box set release, the title Anne of Avonlea is actually factually incorrect if applied to the sequel in many respects), this article should be moved to that title and Anne of Avonlea (1987 film) be made the redirect. 68.146.64.9 (talk) 14:21, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Real Jen Pringle!
editWeird, did you know that there's a real British voice actress named Jen Pringle! 8-0 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2606:4100:1840:808:1848:808:0:7977 (talk) 22:47, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Anne of Avonlea (1987 film) → Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel (1987 film) – title of the article should reflect the title of country of origin as this was produced in Canada as Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel Klsoukup (talk) 23:12, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). TonyBallioni (talk) 01:34, 20 March 2017 (UTC)
- If this is renamed, it should be to Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel: the disambiguator “1987 film” would be redundant. Gorobay (talk) 14:05, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
- Support move to Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel – the U.S. Copyright Office has it as "Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel" [1] --IJBall (contribs • talk) 03:14, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- Comment. Neither "should reflect the title of country of origin" nor "U.S. Copyright Office has it as" are valid reasons to move. How about some evidence of usage in reliable English secondary sources? In any case, if it is moved, the disambiguator would be unnecessary. --В²C ☎ 01:38, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
- Well, both the DVD cover shown here and the one at IMDb show "Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel" as the title. Also, I don't see how the "U.S. Copyright Office" can't be considered a "reliable secondary source". Finding anything else is hard – this is a 1988 letter to the "LA Times" that uses the title "Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel" which pretty strongly implies that it was the broadcast title in the U.S.. And this LA Times piece from 2000 states, "...the 1987 follow-up, "Anne of Green Gables--The Sequel." There's also this. Thus it seems pretty clear to me that this is the predominant title of this in the United States. So it would seem that "Anne of Avonlea" was the title used in Canada, though I can find even Canadian sources that refer to it as "Anne of Green Gables – The Sequel" (e.g. this). I'm guessing that Canadian sources predominantly refer to it as "Anne of Avonlea", and everyone else predominantly calls it "Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel". As I'm going to guess there are more of the latter than the former, I am currently not inclined to change my vote, especially as WP:NATURALDIS favors the proposed move over the current title. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 02:32, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
- Support move to Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel. The current title is sub-optimal for many reasons... neither concise (the date is unnecessary) nor recognisable (the plot uses material from three of the books, not just Anne of Avonlea). Andrewa (talk) 07:22, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
